Keep It Together

Is anyone else nervously checking the various sporting websites daily to see if Durrell Summers is going pro? I think we are going to be crazy good next year, but I think his tournament performance is going to play a big part in that.

When I saw the list of Kentucky players jumping early, I had the biggest smile on my face. I hate Calipari and this is what they deserve.

Yes, I'm very nervous. He finally showed his potential and it would be nice to see him play one full year at max level before moving on.

We should still be great next year, even without Summers (we just won't be as deep). I'm telling you, this kid Appling would love the extra minutes- he's a playmaker. We would still have a decent backcourt and we'd be increasing our frontcourt depth. Plus all the key leaders would be back in Lucas and Green.

What I'm finding interesting is that a lot of places have OSU higher than MSU in preseason polls. The Buckeyes have the top recruiting class...but does it put them over the top? As much as I love Sullinger, I think you need that dynamic guard (Turner) to lead you to the promise land.

And you know Kentucky will reload for next year. I think I read somewhere that 7 of the top 30 high school players are still unsigned...gulp. And many were waiting to see who was going to go pro from this year's Kentucky squad (to see if there would be immediate playing time). That's just how Kentucky's going to be from here on out.

Rumors that Herzog may be transfering, thus opening up another scholarship next year (Trey Zeigler?)...

I just don't see Summers as a pro right now. He didn't seem to want to play during the regular season, he only "switched it on" during the tournament. If he gets bored during a college season, how would he fare during an 82 game pro season?

If I was a GM, I need to see that Summers can play at high level for an entire season before I'm drafting him.

And I know he's super athletic, but don't you think he's a little skinny? Yeah, I know they say the same stuff about Durant, but at least Durant is what, 6'10"? I don't know, for a 6'4" guard, as an NBA team, I'd want to see a little more muscle.

Eh....I suppose he's a little skinny. But for a guard, I'm not too worried about that right now.

I'm more worried about his mental state than his physical one if I'm a GM.

Oh, agree completely.

I'm just adding another thing to the list of things Durrell should work on NEXT YEAR AT STATE.

But yeah, definitely the mental before the physical.
